A new direction for Xen
Over a year ago I wrote a post on my enthusiasm for the upcoming release of e107 v0.8. That was back in December 2008 when it seemed that the long-awaited 0.8 was nearing release - well that's what the community felt and without any clue from the developers, things were positive.
That was a long time ago now and we are still waiting for 0.8. Last year I saw many people move away from e107 because it is lacking the features of a modern CMS and the developers have decided not to give away any clues as to when 0.8 will be ready. This post is not here to discuss the failings of e107 though.
Xen has continued to provide quality themes for the e107 community but as each month goes past the amount of people using e107 and visiting our site has been going down dramatically. This is very painful to see for me personally because I have always believed in e107 and have played an active part in the community since 2006. So, in this time I have been working with other systems and have been impressed by one more than any other.
This year Xen Themes will be making Wordpress themes.
We will continue to make e107 themes, so don't panic! We will do both!
This move will expand our services and bring you more choice. In 2010 there will be more themes, more choice and more fun!
Allow me to introduce...
...Marco. Our new Wordpress themer. Marco has joined Xen Themes and will be releasing his WP themes and helping me to work on our own WP framework. He is also converting a some of our existing e107 themes to WP.
Marco is currently owner of Teethgrinder.net and works with Wordpress, designing and tweaking themes. He will be a great asset to Xen and we are looking forward to pushing Xen forwards this year.
